Welcome to St. Mary's Episcopal Church

"Therefore welcome one another as Christ has welcomed you, for the glory of God."  Romans 15:7

Welcome to St. Mary’s Episcopal Church in Colonial Beach, VA.  Thank you for visiting our website.

St. Mary's is happy to announce that we have called our new rector.  After being in its own time of Advent: a time of expectant preparation and waiting for our pastor, we are delighted to welcome The Rev. Nicholas Szobota.  Father Nick comes to us after serving as assistant rector and rector in the Maryland Diocese.  He is, however, not a stranger to the Virginia Diocese, as he was ordained by The Rt. Rev. David Jones in 2005 in Arlington.  Father Nick will preside at his first Eucharistic Service on August 26, 2018.  He will reside in Colonial Beach and will serve St. Mary's as a full-time minister.

Although small, we are a vital church that takes its responsibility to love God and our neighbors quite seriously.  Browse through the website to see how we engage in the community with a Food Pantry, monthly Community Lunch, Thrift Shop, Nursing Home and Holiday Outreach, extension to the wider community through other’s use of our Parish Hall – to name a few ways in which we serve others and vow to be a beacon of hope in our community and beyond.

On average twenty-five people attend the 8:00 liturgy, and thirty-five attend the 10:30 service.   Although the choir is small, they are large in dedication, enthusiasm, and talent. Congregants gather between services for bible study, story-telling and after the 10:30 service for coffee and fellowship.  We are eager to share our church with visitors and hope to have you join us one Sunday soon.
